Broomhill Sculpture Donation to North Devon Hospice

As the 2011 National Sculpture Prize Exhibition gets underway at Broomhill from June, the North Devon Hospice see a new addition to their grounds in the form of Claudia Borgna’s (Public Vote winner from NSP 2010) ‘Blooming Stars’, an eco sculpture produced from plastic bags.

The piece consists of twenty metal trunks rooted in cement, their hundred metal branches all wrapped up in plastic, each carrying it’s white flower: six hundred and fifty plastic bags altogether, floating in the air. All bags were re-used from previous works, all concrete bases recycled, all metal poles recuperated from their earlier shapes planted for the NSP where they lived at Broomhill for one year.
